Has Reality TV become the next ratings bump for struggling TV?

Of course, the phrase "reality" in terms of television is about as believable as Donald Trump having the same hairline since he was in high school.

There are aspects of reality TV that is all scripted - the reactions, the in-fighting, the hokey reunions. Whatever the pop culture situation or brand mention, reality TV has redefined the TV market forcing other fledgling shows to saddle up with them looking for a surreal bump in ratings.

Apparently, a fledgling national TV newscaster has decided working her soft shoe is way for a ratings utopia as well. (Allegedly).

Enter Katie Couric, host of the CBS "Does anyone watch this outside her parents" Evening News. Katie had a nice conversation with US Magazine about her secret aspirations to work her jelly on "Dancing With the Stars" as well.

"My secret fantasy, sadly, is to be on Dancing With the Stars," Couric, 53, confessed to UsMagazine.com.

"But I don't know, those skimpy outfits!"

Yeah, she doesn't know... but I am certain she would swallow a few dozen diet pills and inhale as deeply as she could for a few more million viewers of the Evening News.

Perhaps this was a strategic, clandestine talk with legal, PR and the big wigs at CBS News about how they could stick it those talking heads Brian Williams and Diane Sawyer. This'll fix 'em, right?

"Brian is on "The Daily Show" every month, so he wouldn't have time and Diane, well, she may break a hip. I'm young. I'm talented. And I'm desperate. Now, what did I do with that Hollywood reporter's phone number I met at the fancy shmancy coffee shop?"

Whatever the thought, I'm sure after The Hoff falls over in a stupor, Mrs. Brady rocks the rumba and someone finds out what the girl on "Dirty Dancing" did with her face, one Katie Couric will get a phone call for next season.

Conveniently, of course. That's reality after all.
