Next time I go to Alaska, I'm hailing a cab from Sarah Palin

I love the Aurora Borealis. Those dancing flourescent ribbons in the sky would give Stevie something for more inspiration.

Unfortunately, the home of Seward's Folly is also the locale for inspiration of a different kind... that doesn't involve "Dancing with the Stars."

This national news, seen here in the Vancouver Sun, is about an entire airline poo-pooing on a family of three, and a father inspired to talk to a few million of his friends:

Alaska Airlines has offered to reimburse an Alberta couple the $1,000 they paid for new plane tickets to get home after the airline gave away their seats when they were delayed by a diaper disaster.

Welcome to Alaska Airlines, where Eskimo kisses come with a scent only a polar bear would love.

Okay, so some lady taking boarding passes got by the "need a personality" detector, gave away a family's tickets because they took too long changing a deuce.

I get it. $@#t happens, right?

Then there's this: Dad got mad. And Alaska Airlines fought back. (Southwest, have you been enjoying this kerfuffle in the break room?)

Dan Blais, incensed by this crappy incident, started a blog called "Alaska Airlines Hates Families." A skosh sensationalistic, but it worked like a charm because we have this gem from the airline’s social media manager Elliott Pesut who replied via blog, so says Business Insider:

“Reservations are subject to cancellation if customers aren’t ready at the gate within those times because many tasks must be completed before departure…We can’t push the plane back from the gate till everyone is sitting down. And so on.”

And so on?! Seriously?

While Alaska Airlines is keeping it classy in Anchorage, may I recommend an etiquette class somewhere in Juneau if they are so inspired?

That or I'd be concerned after this PR flop, potential travelers may dump their interest in a certain airline. And those Northern Lights. (Last pun. Promise.)
