We LUV the Spirit of Entrepreneurship
For a couple of years, HCK2 has been involved with the Entrepreneurs for North Texas (EFNT), and it has been a rewarding experience.
Last year, many HCK2ers (yes, that’s a word… now) took part in EFNT’s annual ‘Freedom Day’. We painted a YMCA in Fair Park. We installed many ceiling tiles. We helped dig a garden. And we even whistled while we worked. Most importantly, we gave back.
This year, we are giving a little more as HCK2 is proud to sponsor the 10th Annual Spirit of Entrepreneurship Awards. The theme is “LUV your company, LUV your community.” Yes, we're honoring our special guest - the be”LUV”ed Herb Kelleher, co-founder of Southwest Airlines.
Being an entrepreneur is very important to me, as both someone in marketing communications and as a woman.
This economy is terrible for many people, and I strongly believe that the spirit of entrepreneurship is what’s going to help stimulate the economy once again. During the Great Depression, it was the ingenuity of hard-working Americans who refused to give up on an idea, a dream or a vision and built a company that would benefit their communities and areas of influence. That can – and will – happen again, and this event celebrates that.
I hope if you have an idea in your industry, a dream to achieve greater heights or a vision to communicate in a more significant way, pursue it. Don’t quit, because you never know. You may be the owner of the next great marketing agency, airline or [insert your passion here]. May the spirit of entrepreneurship be yours in 2011.
