HCK2 INTERNally: Lunch for $1.79 - Perfect for Recent Grads

From time to time, we are proud to hire a few stellar post-grads from the area and watch them experience growth spurts at our fabled company.

We have two in the PR department that are in "weed" status, and would like to take that growth around the block for a spin. This blog series is a result of that meandering: HCK2 INTERNally.

It's a look at HCK2 from an intern's perspective. Our peeps, our clients, our way of life. And, they may catch a questionable photo or two for public consumption. (Be afraid. Be very afraid.)

To kick off the series, Melanie Cornell, yet another Tech graduate to our fare burgh, shares her experience with a recent comfort food extravaganza.

>>> And away we go...

A few team members from HCK2 and I made the long, five-minute drive to Norma's Cafe on Tuesday, for their 55th anniversary

Lunch for $1.79. Who can beat that?

While we expected to wait for hours before getting a table, the Norma’s Cafe staff was running like a well oiled machine. The restaurant was full of fans looking to save a little money on their lunch breaks. Well, a lot!

Knowing Norma’s Cafe is a favorite of Don Carter's, we had to check it out. After all, it was the first place he went after the Mavericks won the 2011 NBA Championship!

After we watched Marilyn Monroe wait on tables for about 20 minutes we were seated. I had the mouthwatering chicken and dressing with creamy mashed potatoes smothered in white gravy. Chase went with the meatloaf and Victoria? Well, she had a salad. (Wimp.)

After we had finished stuffing our mouths we had to return to the office instead of going into food comas. I wonder what Norma’s Cafe has up their sleeves for the 60th anniversary. Free pillow with lunch purchase?
