HCK2 INTERNally: Three ways to survive the holidays
It’s that time of year again folks – time to gather and time to shine, and time to spend long hours searching for an express line. Most importantly, it’s a time to reflect on the past year and make plans for 2012 (sorry, no –ine rhyming word there). Oh, and if you thought we were only talking about the holidays, guess again!
As we gather with our clients and work to attract new ones, our PR team knows all too well the undertakings that arise at the end of every year. With reports, billing and combating the occasional crisis before the end of Q4, both preparing for the holidays and juggling our clients’ needs can leave anyone feeling overwhelmed.
That said, we understand and have experience. Here are a few tips that’ll keep you on your toes and most definitely in good spirits heading into the New Year:
Practice Makes Perfect
One key aspect to being successful in this biz is practicing how to think on your feet and deliver answers off the cuff. A good way to hone this skill can be through a fun game of charades – and while you’re at it, you can prepare for those competitive relatives of yours that you’ll soon be seeing. It’s a win-win!
Review, Renew and Re-strategize
Reflect on your successes by visiting with clients, reviewing past articles that received notable coverage or simply brushing up on basic techniques to improve your pitching and writing skills.
Don’t Fight the Current (Trends)
It’s easy to fall behind current trends when under-staffed or lacking the necessary resources, but if you want success in 2012, just go for it! Spot upcoming trends and plan your next campaign around these developments.
Oh, and don’t forget to pat yourself on the back every once in a while, too. That or have someone else do it. After all, you did just make it through yet another exciting year, right?
