D/FW: It's a Woman's World Now

As quiet as it's kept, there have been some changes in Dallas-Fort Worth television lately. While turnover is no surprise in the media, the stars have seemed to aligned over North Texas and shining in a bright pastel hue.

For the first time I can imagine in this DMA, the big four TV stations in this market have female news directors. It's anomalous in these "good ol' boy" parts, but there it is:

That tetrahedron of joy should create a lot of fun for flacks in this town. However, it should create news as well. Women have usually been the majority demographic in newsrooms, as well as agencies. That said, places of higher authority have usually been populated by pork rinds, Old Spice cologne and closet-sized putting greens.

No longer now that girl power has taken over the newsrooms in Big D.

A while back, I remember something my mother once opined. She said, "Shawn Paul, women who think they are equal to men...lack ambition."

[Snap. Snap. In a circle. Snap.]

Congratulations ladies, and to this market.
